Meet Joseph and Stephanie Howell

Nomadic Roots Research is a family-operated genealogy business founded by Joseph and Stephanie Howell. Our mission is to help individuals and families discover, document, and preserve their family histories through accurate, professional, and well-documented research.

Joseph Howell has more than 30 years of genealogy research experience and holds an Associate Degree in Family History and Genealogy from BYU–Idaho. He also completed the Boston University Genealogical Research Certificate Program and has served as a Family History Consultant for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His research experience includes courthouse records, land and title research, probate records, military records, census records, DNA research, and family reconstruction projects.

Stephanie Howell assists with research, record organization, family history projects, client support, and documentation. Together, we work to provide thorough and reliable genealogy services tailored to each client’s needs.

As full-time RV travelers, we have the unique ability to conduct on-site courthouse, cemetery, archive, and record research throughout the United States.

Service and Experience

Joseph is a U.S. Army veteran who served from 1999 to 2004. His military service, combined with decades of genealogical research experience, has developed the attention to detail, persistence, and commitment to accuracy that clients expect from professional family history research.

Our RV-based lifestyle allows us to travel throughout the United States, providing on-site courthouse research, record retrieval, cemetery visits, and archival research in locations that may be difficult for clients to access on their own.
